With WWDC just 2 months away, and the iPhone rumors flying around the internet, I thought I’d give a quick overview of what I think can be improved on the next version of the iPhone.

I’ve been using my iPhone for over 8 months now, and can not imagine living without it. I use it all day long for e-mail, pictures, SMS, calling, music, podcasts, video casts, calendar, …

Room for improvement

Wi-Fi synchronization

The cradle is nice for charging, but I’m too lazy to dock the iPhone every time I make a change in my calendar, or add a new album to my iPhone-playlist. Hey, if Microsoft can do it, Apple can do it better, right?

3G (there’s an if)

EDGE in Belgium is slow. You can use Twitter mobile and send/receive mail, but that’s about it. So 3G would be nice if it doesn’t affect the battery life. I prefer battery life above faster internet.

iPod Touch form factor

The iPhone is one gorgeous piece of hardware, but it’s a bit fat. I saw an iPod Touch a couple of months after I got my iPhone, and my first reaction was: “Wow, this looks and feels so much nicer then my iPhone”. I like the brushed aluminum and the thinner body.

Allow desktop applications to sync with the iPhone

I said it before and will say it again: The SDK looks amazing, and I’m sure a lot of amazing applications will be born from it, but please let me sync my desktop applications with their mobile version. The guys from Things ensured me there will be a version of their application for the iPhone, and I would love to be able to keep both in sync.

Video recording

I can’t remember who Twittered about it, but that person was right: Give the iPhone some great video recording abilities, and it can replace the need for a Flip.

So?

Well, we can only hope that Steve makes us proud when he enters the stage on Monday, 9th of June. I’ll be following the event like I follow all Apple’s presentations: 4 to 8 liveblogs during the event, and the video recording afterwards…

If you’ve got some additions/changes you would like to see, leave them in the comments!
